WELL HARPER: AND' ARRIVED THE DISK OF THE YEAR?

The Critique.

You runs seriously the album of this to be considered 2009. White lies for dark times confirms, if there was need of it, the great qualities of Well Harper that also in this occasion a phenomenal artist shows him, able to be regenerated himself/herself/themselves through the collaboration of a new group, the Relentless 7, a band that was born by chance, without pretensions, and that you/he/she is plain pian become a full time project, as you/he/she shows this job in study. The greatness of Well Harper is in this ability of his to return to the origins proposing not himself/herself/itself as a leader but as a frontman of a new group that has so much to say.

And so, it is noticed since the first ones notes that the air that he breathes in the disk it is fresh and pleasant. Let's tell clearly us him: the name of the American rocker could quietly be omitted in the cover of the album, considering that the writing and the production of the passages broadly handed the signature of the Relentless 7, to the century Jason Mozersky (guitar), Jordan Richardson (percussions) and Jesse Ingalls (lower part and plan). And the novelty is already evident in Number with no name, where the folk the Californian's blues you/he/she is embellished by a lending base rhythmic style Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, so much to quote someone of it more contemporary. Up to you now shows us as Well Harper knows how to experiment not electronic sonority for strength extending to the blues. Nothing to be said on the individual and masterpiece Shimmer and shine, the evident expression of his/her musical creativeness and his winding and warm vocalità. The following trace is one of those that you/they take you since the first listening: Lay there and hate I, contain in if 40 years of music made in Usa, with sonority country, blues and jazz. There is also space for the Hendrixiana, Why must you always dress in black. And not by chance, in fact, the Californian has been more times compared to Jimi Hendrix for some facets of his/her style and for some sonorities. Typical of its repertoire, finds the splendid ballad Skin thin, before meeting the magnificent Fly one time, written to two hands with Mozersky, that embellishes her/it with its linear guitar and it dries that perfectly makes the melody of the passage, where it detaches the inimitable voice of Well Harper. Keep it together (I know The Khans fall apart) with his/her main riff of guitar effettato with the Wah Wah (or cry baby, as dir is wanted), that leaves then space to the unmistakable slide of the Californian, brings us to the truth blues years '70, that filtered by the British rock. The end of the album is less crackling and ritmato of the first part, but it brings us to the Well Harper of the first jobs, that is always a pleasure to listen. Boots like these, The word suicides and Faithfully remain, represent a perfect triad to close the circle of this magnificent job, last solo for order of time. For the one whom didn't know yet Well Harper, advises to listen to this album. You/he/she could be a pleasant sorpresa.per who appreciates for a long time already it, it is certainly instead a pleasant confirmation.
