| | FOR THE MAXIMOS PARK PRECIOUS CONFIRMATION If I pronounced the name Paul Smith, to many the famous (and dear.) English stylist would come to mind. But, as you are able well to realize, this is not an index book of fashion or fashion design. Then, if we pronounced the name Paul Smith, the frontman of that band it would come to mind that you/he/she has bossily entered the panorama Indies British Rock: the Maximos Park. The band of Newcastle, after having boxed the positive judgments of theirs first album "To certain trigger", you/he/she is introduced with a new disk all to discover: "Our Earthly Pleasures." We immediately say that it is an album "diesel", that fully appreciate riascoltandolo more times, that it doesn't impress certain for his/her oneness, but that surely it makes him appreciate for his/her original being, in tendency with the precedent job of the band. The everything opens with "Girls who plays guitar", from the regular lilt, ritmato to the correct point, without overdoing, followed by the first single extract, or "Our velocity", passage endowed with innate freshness, in pure style Maximo Park. The sound does him more reasoned and we comes upon there, perhaps, in the song more succeeded of the whole album "Books from Boxes", according to single. Here, the arpeggios of guitar effectively jump to the ear, for then to leave space to the inevitable keyboards and to vocal interlacements that a lot of new makes wave years '80. This way, after the refined person "Russian Litirature", it is "Karaoke Plays" to steal the show with atmospheres that seem to put on to brush during a long trip (also the video is a testimony of it). "Your is urgent" it is based on insistent riff of piano and it is really here that perhaps this style some heavy emerges of which spoke above. Certainly you/he/she should be listened more than times to be able to appreciate to of it full his/her own validity. But pleasant immediateness, does again capolino with "By the Monument", in which can listen good arrangements and a winning sound. In the following one "Nosebleed", Smith tries to induce to reflections ("Burdens people hide their emotions, burdens people show too much. Did we go too fast? Is that why your nose is bleeding?") while the rhythm repurchases vigor in "To fortnight's time." The closing is all for "Sandblasted and set free" and the particular one "Parisian Skies." In substance, the album results to be a good continuum of ideas and expressions musical, even if less fast and more reasoned. After the success of their first job, the Maximos Park are confirmed in enough satisfactory way. Certainly, some fanses of "To certain trigger" you/he/she can twist the nose of forehead to some choices, but it is obvious that everybody you/he/she cannot be satisfied. In the vortex of the new English bands, the second album is always that more difficulty, since the conclusive step is considered for the definitive consecration. The Maximos Park put her/it all and, even though with some error of youth, they succeed in the intent. Surely we are ready to bet us, we will find again them soon to the first places of the charts that count. Alexander Setaro | |
