MORGAN E ITALIAN SONGBOOK: AUTHOR'S GIFT
The Critique.
It never denies him the "Pirate Morgan." From the tall one of his/her vast musical culture and not it delights us with a disk of cover of Italian passages of author of the years 5'0, and '60, all riarrangiatis with wisdom and abundance of details, and where the our dear songwriter monzese exhibits him only to the voice, abandoning the musical poliedricità and the polistrumentismo that it countersigns him/it for a long time.
His is a sort of mission: to bring the Italian music of quality to the light, gone by now lost and forgotten for making space to the canzonettes of our days. At all badly as conceives! And he, puts as usual us of his proposing fantastic passages, embellished by a second version, in English language, so that to attribute an universalismo to such masterpieces that the sound often misses made in Italy. To demonstration that when the music is of quality, the language that is used it doesn't engrave as. Rather, when in Italy it did him some good music, they were the foreigners to translate in English our Italian masterpieces. And so Morgan, shows the beauty of passages as "The sky in a room " of Gino Paoli, or "cu'mme Stays" of Domenico Modugno, in that Castoldi translates "it Stays with me." But in this first volume of Italian Songbook there is also space for "my world" of Umberto Bindi, or "away from the eyes" of Sergio Endrigo, all to be listened with attention for their refined person beauty. Thirteen passages, of which five proposed in English, with the pearl of "Back home someday", original piece in English sung by Sergio Endrigo that it belonged to the column of a film western of the years '60. Once listened to this album, it comes natural to go to see again and to seek how much of special and only you/he/she has produced the Italian music, by now almost cinquantenni ago and we feels like asking if I/you/he/she were the case to divide really from that years to give back light and rush to a made to Italy that, frankly it is from too much time that latita for quality and originality. Well comes, therefore, Morgan with the his/her educational and cultural background job.
In today's Italy we feel of it really the need. We hope that its idea is taken back ahead also by other artists and course with further vivacity and innovatività, and who knows. even organizing a real demonstration in which makes him free to these Italian authors that have characterized our music so many and many years ago. Us meanwhile we taste there his/her album and we put waiting for the second volume there that, we are sure, it won't disappoint us.
