TEN: AN ALBUM THAT THE HISTORY OF THE GRUNGE E HAS DONE THAT YOU/HE/SHE HAS DONE GREAT THE PEARL JAM

What has happened in Seattle in the first years ninety has of the unbelievable one. The rock to the sudden one is stripped and dressed again at the same time of a new dress, never known until then: the grunge. Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees and also Smashing Pumpkins (not all are of Seattle however), mark a watershed among what comes before and what will happen in the future. A new beginning would be said. It is absent however a group, the greatest, the more longevos, what has really fact history: the Pearl Jam. They don't want the fanses of the Nirvanas, the pioneers of the grunge but that that have succeeded in creating Eddy Vedder of it it is partners it has of the unbelievable one, their success is still tangible and still foresees. A called success "Ten", first album of the band in Seattle, a masterpiece that the magazine Rolling Stone has inserted to the 207° place of his/her list of the 500 best albums. A disk of debut of rare beauty, that only the great ones of the rock can boast to have composed. And the Pearl Jam fully reenter in this category of chosens. From the commercial point of view, "Ten" it was successful and, in the two year-old turn it came to sell only over twelve million copies in the States, overcoming another miliary stone of the grunge as straight "Nevermind" of the Nirvanas. The beauty and the rarity of this album it is in the fact that is unique because it is an original job and without clear musical references. And' a so-called "brand new" that it doesn't find contaminations with other sons-in-law, but that it perfectly ties him to the mythical rock years '70 of the Led Zeppelin and of the The Who, an explosive mix made magic by the unmistakable voice of the ex surfer Californian Eddy Vedder. In short: it is with the Pearl Jam that it returns in top the true rock, what we like it. Indifferent of his/her own image, the five in Seattle doesn't take care of the proper look, but they loves deeply the fanses, to which you/they always give passionate and energetic show: great riff hard rock, a precise and present rhythmic section, united memorable solos to the texts of an Eddie Vedder, that of there to few a sacred monster of the rock will become. And' "Alive", the most important passage of the Lp,

a fantastic ride rock, that is formed around a turn of unmistakable guitar before inserting him in an endless end, driven by a beautiful solo of Mike McReady. The text is not also from less and he/she speaks of the traumatic discovery of Vedder of the death of the natural father: for years the mother of the singer had held him hidden the true identity of his/her/their father.

And' really to that uneasiness manifested in the characters described in "Ten "from Eddie Vedder, with his sung cavernous and scratching, to half among the melancholy Jim Morrison and the energetic Rod Stewart, that many young people see again him decreeing from immediately the success of it. And so if the blueseggiante "Why Go", he/she speaks of a girl confined in a clinic by his/her/their parents because discovery while it was smoking a spinello, "Ounces", passage of opening with which the album invites us to the listening, is the flow of conscience of a serial killer; "Even Flow" it is an involving rock, with a psychedelic mix that puts us in evidence the depth of the sound of the group, where Vedder shows the difficult conditions of life of a homeless.

And then we find "Jeremy", the other individual and masterpiece that you/he/she has given international fame to the group, a ballad that draws I sprout from a true fact of chronicle: an American teen-ager that, armed with gun, you/he/she had killed at random of his/her classmates for then to kill. And after the punk of "Porch", he returns to speak of juvenile uneasiness with "Deep", with clear influences nearer metal to the Alice In Chains, in which it speaks of the sexual violence suffered by a girl. But from the depression a small small opening is seen in the love story of (ended badly obviously) "Black", a splendid ballad, where we find the history of an ended love, that he allows to go to an along psychedelic ending, in which a piano also emerges. Whether to say of "Oceans", countersigned by acoustic guitars, style Led Zeppelin III, with Vedder that draws near, in the end of the track, to the mythical Bono in an unique falsetto. You returns to the psichedelia with "Garden", where he discusses of religion, while in the closing "Release", we typically find again the mystical atmosphere U2. The text doesn't also disappoint it attended her and he/she leaves space to a touching prayer of Vedder to the disappeared father.

Despite "Ten" both one of the albums of which the group is said less satisfied, are only in the discografia of the Pearl Jam and the more loved by the whole panorama grunge. The Pearl Jam, contrarily of as their colleagues, are still on the stage to damn him the soul, and they keep on telling them way the American histories, with unmistakable style and depth.
